Maybelline Bleached Neons Collection (7 polishes)

Hi guys, welcome to Monday!  Hopefully you all had a fantastic weekend.  Saturday the hubby and I did some damage in the Home Depot outdoor section and then spent seven hours working outside.  We did so much work on the yard and I even mowed the lawn for the first time on our John Deere mower.  We planted the majority of our garden and did some weed control.  We have a huge yard so there is still a ton to get done but by the end we were both exhausted.  I'm actually still sore from all that hard work haha!  Yesterday was a much more relaxing day.  We did some shopping and then the  rest of the day involved vegging out and watching Prison Break.  I have a serious obsession with that show right now, I'm just getting into the second season.

Today I have a collection that I am really excited to share with you all.  This collection is the Maybelline Bleached Neons Collection and it's a brand new collection with seven polishes.  Before I start, I would like to note that I hunted these babies down :)  I kept checking my local drugstore to no avail and then right before we went to St. Maarten, I checked a Walgreens up near Chicago and they had them for buy one get one 50% off.  That's how I ended up with all of them!

First up is Day Glow Teal, which is a bright but light teal.  The term "bleached neons" is perfect for this collection and it really describes the color of these polishes.  This polish was the only one out of the seven that dried glossy and it had a fantastic formula.  I used two coats with topcoat below.  A little warning on this one....it did stain after about five minutes.  I don't swatch with basecoat but this one did leave a slight blue tone to my nails.

Next up is Citrus Collide, which is a pastel yellow with a touch of neon.  The formula on this one was thin and streaky.  I needed three coats with topcoat below.  This one dried semi-matte.

Third in the collection is Coral Heat, which is a pastel neon coral.  This coral was more pink leaning than red leaning and it was really pretty on the nail.  The formula was so so on this one, typical of a neon polish and it also dried down semi-matte.  I used three coats with topcoat below.

Fourth is the real bummer of this collection, Lime Accent.  This polish is a neon pastel lime, yellow-leaning, and the formula was just so thin and streaky.  I needed four coats plus topcoat for my swatches and it did dry semi-matte.  Ugh...four coats!  Aint nobody got time for that!

Next up is Ultra Violet.  If you've been reading my blog, you'll know my current love affair with Maybelline Lust for Lilac.  This one is so close to that polish, just a touch darker.  This is one of my favorites out of this collection but I wouldn't consider it a neon.  This polish had the best formula of all the polishes, almost a one coater.  I used two coats plus topcoat below, this one also dried semi-matte.  I only have one picture of this one because Blogger wouldn't let me upload the second picture....trust me, I tried for hours.

Next up is Bleached in Peach, which is a bright pastel peach.  The formula on this one was a little tough but I think the color was worth it.  I don't have any kind of colors like this in my collection and I really enjoyed wearing it.  This one again dried semi-matte and I used three thin coats with topcoat below.

Last up is Pink Punch, which is a bright baby pink.  This one was pretty streaky and I needed three careful coats plus topcoat for this one.  It also dried semi-matte.

There you have it, the entire Maybelline Bleached Neons Collection.  The formulas were really hit or miss on these and some were worth the trouble for the unique "bleached neon" color.  My favorites were Ultra Violet, Day Glow Teal, and Bleached in Peach.  I would skip in Lime Accent because four coats is just too many for me.  Do you plan on picking any of these up?  Which one is your favorite?

I will also have a video going up this afternoon, yay!

  2. I'm not usually a fan of yellow nail polish but that yellow is just perfect - sunny and vibrant without being too neony. FAB! :o) Xx
