Lac Attack: Imagine and Celebrate

Hi guys, welcome to Monday.  Hopefully you all had a good weekend.  I spent the entire time working.  Gee, how fun.  I had an epiphany yesterday around lunch time when I realized that there's one more day in March and that my deadline isn't tomorrow, but Tuesday.  I was so happy I almost cried.  One day might not seem like a lot, but to me it was everything.  That means I didn't have to pull an all-nighter :)

Today I have two Indie polishes to share with you, both were won in the same giveaway as the polish yesterday.  I haven't had time to swatch in about two weeks so I'm running low on posts haha.  My project will be done by Tuesday so I'll finally get a chance to do some swatching and nail art.  I'm very much looking forward to that.

First up is Lac Attack Imagine.  This polish is a mix of different sizes of circle glitter in pale pink, aqua, and white, in a slightly blue tinted base.  I can't say exactly what polish this is over, but I want to say Essie Romper Room.  Sorry!  I really thought this was a fun polish and I ended up using two coats.

The second polish I have is Lac Attack Celebrate.  This polish is a mixture of confetti square glitter in neon pink. blue, green, white, and black.  It's so fun!  I used two coats over OPI Incognito in Sausalito, a deep blue.

This is my first experience with Lac Attack and I am beyond pleased.  I thought both glitter mixes were so fun and unique.  Do you own any Lac Attack polish?

Glitter Daze Socialite

Hi there everyone.  Today I've got a quick post for you of an Indie polish that I won from a giveaway.  I've been busy with work all weekend and today will be no exception.  Hopefully I can get back to normal starting Tuesday :)

Today I have a stunning polish to share with you, Glitter Daze Socialite.  This polish is a beautiful mix of glitter and shards of glitter in a rainbow of colors.  I used a gradient over OPI Manicurist of Seville.  This polish was slightly on the thick side, just because it's so packed with glitter.  I love this polish, it reminds me of birthday cupcakes :)

There you have it.  Sorry for the short post!  Hopefully this pretty polish makes up for it ;)

Mint Chip Chevrons

Hi guys, welcome to Thursday.  Geez, yesterday was tough.  I had my work evaluation and my boss threw me under the bus with a horrible review.  I had one late deadline and they used that to damage my scores in every category.  I was the second top producer of the entire section, worked nights and weekends to get out of situations they put me in, and that's what I got.  I don't think I've ever shed so many tears in one day.  I felt utterly blindsided and completely destroyed.  But, today is a new day, and I plan on writing a rebuttal to my evaluation since I refused to sign it how it was.  How was your Wednesday haha!

On the other hand...look at these pretty nails ;)  I didn't plan on doing nail art when I did these but it ended up this way.  I started with a base of OPI A-Taupe the Space Needle and I couldn't help but be reminded of chocolate.  Zoya Neely was staring at me on the coffee table and the idea of mint and chocolate took off.  I taped off my chevrons and used Zoya Neely as my mint and then finished off with dots in OPI Alpine Snow.

So, there you have it.  I loved this look and ended up wearing it to work for a day.  What do you think of this look?  I'm off to battle now...

OPI Muppets Most Wanted-Swatches and Review

Hi everyone, happy Hump Day!  I want to thank everyone for the well wishes yesterday for my work evaluation.  So I went downstairs yesterday about two minutes before my review was going to start and my boss says...oh, I told you the wrong day.  So it's today haha.  I wore an uncomfortable shirt for nothing because it looked nice haha #firstworldproblems.  I just read my review, they always send it to us beforehand, and it was "satisfactory".  Geez, double the work for the year, thanks for the satisfactory.

So today I am bringing you a collection I'm really excited about, the new OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection.  When I saw the press release I wasn't very excited about this collection, but I definitely like it better in person.  This collection consists of 8 polishes, two light colored pastels, one sheer shimmer, one duochrome, one metallic, and three glitters.  There's really a good variety of polishes so I really liked that.

I Love Applause

This polish is a "whitened" pink cream polish, pretty much the color of cotton candy.  I had to use three coats for this polish and even then there were some patches that weren't fully opaque.  You can't tell in the photos, but I could tell in real life.

Chillin' Like a Villain

This is the pale peachy counterpart to the first polish.  This polish is a light peachy cream and it reminds me of a creamsicle.   This polish had the same formula as the first polish, sheer but buildable in three coats, but it also did have some patchiness after three coats.

Int'l Crime Caper

This polish is a sheer white shimmer polish with a pink flash.  It leans very pink on me.  The formula was good considering it was a sheer.  I used three coats and obviously there is still visible nail line.

Kermit Me To Speak

Next up is the duochrome of the collection.  Kermit Me To Speak is a purple/green/gold duochrome and I thought the strength of the duochrome was really good.  This one was pretty thin and I need three coats to build up the color.

Miss Piggy's Big Number

This polish is a bold bright blue metallic and it looks very glowy on the nail.  I compared this one to five other dark blue metallic OPIs and I didn't have a dupe.  People have been saying that it's a dupe for OPI Into the Night, but it isn't.  I will have a comparison soon.  This polish was on the sheer side and it did need three coats to build up the color, good formula though.

Let's Do Anything We Want!

Here is the first glitter of the collection, which is a mix of pink metallic glitter, white glitter, and big white square glitter.  This one is cotton candy in a bottle :)  Love it!  I used one coat over OPI I Love Applause.

Muppets World Tour

The glitters continue to be a hit for me!  Muppets World Tour is a mix of silver glitter and a little bit of fuchsia pink and metallic blue glitter.  I love this one as well.  I used one coat over OPI Int'l Crime Caper.  I really liked this polish combination.

Gaining Mole-mentum

Last up, a shredded glitter mix!  This one is really unique and it's a mix of gold, silver, and rose gold shredded glitter in a clear base.  I love this one as well.  I was worried that the glitter would stick up off the nail but it doesn't.  This is one coat over OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons.

Overall, this collection is a good one in my book.  Some of the colors are very unique but the glitters really take the cake for me.  Have you picked up any from this collection?  You can also see a review in video form :)

March 2014 Empties: Beauty and Nails

Hi guys, I'm back with my March 2014 Empties.  You can check it out below!

Are there any good beauty or nail products that you used up in March?

Twinsie Tuesday: Winter to Spring Transition Polish

Hi guys, welcome to Tuesday.  I must have forgotten it was January because our roads are like an ice rink with cars off the road everywhere and the wind chill is in the teens.  What?  Why?  Anyways, today is my yearly review at work.  Gee I just can't wait (insert sarcasm here).  I did the work of two people, literally, and I might get a handshake for it.  Wish me luck!

Today's TT post was really hard for me.  I had no idea what to pick for a winter to spring transition polish.  At one point I asked my husband what he thought....no luck there and then at another point, I almost opened a drawer to my helmer and picked randomly :)  Ultimately I went with the polish below because it was a mixture of silver glitter, which represented Winter, and aqua glitter, which represented Spring.  The polish is Sally Hansen Triple Shine in Fanta-sea and I used three coats below.

Sorry for the dud polish pick everyone.  I bet the other Twinsie's did better, you can check them out below.

Smokey Mountain Lacquers: 6 New Polishes!

*Press Samples
Hi everyone, welcome to Monday.  Hopefully you all had a great weekend!  Yesterday was pretty uneventful for me.  My husband and I went grocery shopping, we finished up our Spring cleaning, and I did some work from home.  It's back to being cold again here and we're supposed to get snow tonight.  The weather needs to knock it off, I remember one year it was so warm we planted our entire garden in April.  Somehow I don't think that's going to work this year ;)

Today I am excited to show off six brand new polishes from Smokey Mountain Lacquers.  These polishes will be available today at 1pm EST.  Let's get right into it!  I also want to note that all swatches are without topcoat.

Before The Storm

Before the Storm is a light grey cream with a touch of brown.  I love grey polishes and this one is no exception!  I found this polish to be pretty sheer, but it did build up nicely in three thin coats.  I thought it was also important to note that each coat dried really quickly so three coats wasn't a problem.  This one is so sophisticated and chic on the nail and I love the color.

Sandy Shores

Sandy Shores is a tan cream polish like the color of sand when it gets wet.  I love that description :)  I'm definitely a beach bunny at heart!  This polish was the most sheer of the six, and even with three thin coats, there was still some visible nail line.

Below is a comparison between the first two polishes.  Sandy Shores is on the left (tan) and Before The Storm is on the right (grey).

Delicate Flower

Delicate Flower is a delicate violet blue cream.  This polish is exactly like a violet blue and it is so pretty on the nail.  This is like the season Spring in a polish!  This one was again on the sheer side but I used three thin coats to build up the color.  This one did end up being a little bit streaky on the nail.

I'm Just Peachy

Next up is I'm Just Peachy, which is an orange cream with pink shimmer.  This one reminded me of a peach pie, it's all I could think of when I was swatching it.  I used two coats for my swatches below.  The first coat was a little bit sheer, but it built up nicely in two coats.

She Devil

She Devil is a pink/red cream.  This one was like applying a liquid strawberry on my nails, I loved it!  I used two coats below.

In Your Dreams

I saved my favorite for last.  In Your Dreams is a bold blue cream and I had a hard time trying to figure out what type of blue this was because I haven't seen anything like it.  It's kind of in between a sea blue and a cobalt blue.  Ugh, it's just so pretty!  This was the most opaque of the six and I used two coats below.

Overall, I am very happy with these polishes.  I love the originality of the colors, especially for Spring.  Some of the formulas were on the sheer side, but all but one were able to be built up easily.  My favorites are In Your Dreams, Before the Storm, and She Devil.

These polishes will be available today starting at 1pm EST.  Full size bottles will retail for $7.45 and minis will retail for $3.95.  Smokey Mountain Lacquers can be found on their website here and on Etsy here.
