Essie On a Silver Platter (3 ways)

Hi everyone, happy Saturday.  Yesterday, instead of working, I spent the day swatching :)  That's the only good part about my job, if I want to take the day off, I just do.  I am really excited to share ten polishes from the OPI Mariah Carey collection tomorrow and then Monday I have swatches from the brand new OPI Gwen Stefani collection.  I had quite the swatch fest yesterday ;)  This year I'm being really organized with my blog and I'm excited for what's ahead.

Today I have a polish that I bought on a whim.  I kept seeing Essie On a Silver Platter in stores and I just thought it looked beautiful in the bottle.  I haven't heard great things from other bloggers about this polish, but I went for it anyways.  I've shown this polish three different ways.

First up is an opaque version of this polish.  This polish is jam packed with microglitters that can lean silver or gold depending on what you do with it.  In the opaque version it leans silver.  This polish is also filled with different sizes of cobalt blue holographic glitter.  The polish is really glitter dense so it only took two coats to make it opaque.  I used two coats with topcoat below.

The next version is over the blue polish, OPI Unfor-greta-bly Blue, which is a medium metallic blue.  I liked this version because the blue stood out a little more.  I bet this polish would look pretty and wintery over white.  I used one coat with topcoat below.

Last up is a quick phone photo of my New Year's Eve mani with this polish.  For this look, this polish leaned gold over the warm colored polish.  I used one coat on the ends over OPI Visions of Love, which is a deep maroon polish.

Despite all of the negative thoughts on this polish, I actually liked it.  I thought it was pretty versatile and I was able to wear it a bunch of different ways, although I think my favorite is the polish opaque on its own.  What do you think of this polish?

  1. Oh I had no idea this polish got negative reviews, I love it, it's the only one that I like from the collection. It looks best I think when worn on its own.

By the way, I received the prize from your giveaway! Thanks a bunch, I love the green polish!!
