OPI Mustang Collection-Swatches and Review (full collection)

Hi guys, welcome to Monday.  I hope you all had a great weekend and are having a good start to your Monday.  Today I am excited to be sharing another full OPI collection.  I feel like there have been a crazy amount of OPI collections this year and to be completely honest, I wasn't too thrilled with the idea of this collection.  Let's get right into the swatches and I'll let you know my final opinions at the end.

Race Red-
First up is the classic Mustang red in the collection.  The thing is....this red leans very orange.  My father-in-law has a classic cherry red Mustang and this doesn't remind me of that color.  This polish is a red-orange cream and the formula is absolute perfection.  I used two easy coats with topcoat below.

50 Years of Style-
The second polish up is a frosty antique gold color.  I honestly thought I would hate this one, but it leans very cool toned for a gold.  When I pulled comparisons anything that was a traditional warm gold wasn't even close to this.  There were brushstrokes, but they did dry down as the polish dried.  Again, another great formula.  I used two coats with topcoat below but you could get away with one thick coat.

Angel with a Leadfoot-
This polish is a stark white cream...I will have a comparison to OPI Alpine Snow.  I had high hopes for this polish but unfortunately it was streaky and needed three coats plus topcoat to even everything out.

Girls Love Ponies-
Next up is a pink that we see a lot from OPI, a medium pink cream.  I had to compare them for myself but this one is definitely more berry toned than the others.  This one had a fantastic formula and I needed two easy coats with topcoat below.

Queen of the Road-
This polish is a unique metallic deep charcoal grey/black polish.  I found this one to dry a little bit matte but the formula was smooth and easy to apply.  I used two coats with topcoat below.

The Sky's My Limit-
Of course I had to save the best for last.  The Sky's My Limit is a gorgeous medium blue with tons of gold shimmer.  It's just a stunner, so dynamic, and is gorgeous on the nail.  With polishes similar to this, I have found they can be sheer but I didn't come across that problem with this one.  I used two easy coats with topcoat below.

So my final thoughts on this collection are a little mixed.  On one hand, the theme isn't my favorite and some of the colors aren't the most original.  I have to give it props for mostly fantastic formulas and that blue is just killing it.  I would love to know your thoughts on this collection.  Do you plan on picking any of them up, if so, which ones?  I will have comparisons of all the colors in the next day or two and I also created some awesome nail art with them as well!

  2. Lovely swatches! I am definitely a fan of the blue and blackish dark brown colour. the red-orange is great too and i believe it is the new red shade for the 2015 mustang which is in celebration of the 50 years which is why i think OPI didn't go with the cherry red.
