Galaxy Nails: My First Attempt

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope everyone's day goes by quickly so we all can get to the weekend :)  This weekend was the first one in about a month and a half that I don't have to work the entire time.  Tonight is movie night with friends and then we will be taking a trip to Ikea on Saturday to get furniture for my husband's man cave.  We had an extra room we weren't using for anything so I figured why not.  It sure made him happy!  Enough rambling....

....and on to today's mani.  This is my first attempt at the beloved galaxy nails.  I've seen tons of beautiful galaxy nails but never had the guts to try it.  After my success with watercolor nails I figured I could just translate that technique with dark colors and here is the result.

Here's all of the polishes I used: basecoat of Essie Licorice, "watercolored" with Zoya Storm, Zoya Jacqueline, Julep Stefani, Orly Tiara, Essie Butler Please, and OPI Plugged In Plum.

I think next time I will try using some lighter colors with the black and see how that goes.  What do you think?  Have you tried this or would you try it in the future?

Flowers for Mom Nail Art Challenge: Inspired by Mom!

Yay for Thursday :)  One day closer to Friday.  Today I have day two of the Flowers For Mom Nail Art Challenge created by Paulina of Paulina's Passions.  I really enjoyed coming up with a mani for this day.  I had so many ideas but I ended up going with my mom's most striking feature...her eyes.  A bunch of people in my family, myself included, have green eyes that change color. They normally are green with a dark blue outer circle but can change from light green, to grey, to blue depending on the light.  I thought a color gradient ruffian would represent this quite nicely.  

The colors, in order, are Zoya Rikki, Zoya Bevin, Zoya Noot, and Julep Millie.

A Zesty Watercolor Mani

Hi everyone.  Happy Wednesday....half way through the work week.  Today I have my newest favorite nail technique, the watercolor mani.  I started out with a base of a punchy peach color, Essie Haute As Hello and used the watercolor method with OPI Cajun Shrimp, OPI My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and OPI Germanicure.  I really loved the result.  It came out really punchy and edgy.  I even did both hands so that I could wear it for a few days...then what happened...I got in the shower too soon and ruined it...AHHH!  Oh well, I look forward to many more cool color combinations, or should I say hot color combinations?  :)  Have you tried this technique yourself?

My Julep Maven Box: It Girl

Hi everyone...Happy Tuesday!!!  I am at home today again, working sporadically but mostly resting :)  Today I have my Julep box for May.  I was disappointed with the neons last month, especially the formula.  This month I was pleasantly surprised.  I decided to forgo swatches and did some nail art instead.  

This month was a 1920's theme, everything from the polish colors to the beautiful packing was very vampy and pretty.  I received a peach creme, Clara, a holographic glitter, Paris, and an oxblood creme, Coco, and some adorable floral bobby pins.  I started out with a base of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons, which I love and need a full bottle of :)  I taped off the red to create a triangle, used the peach to create dots, and did accent nails with the glitter.

Hi everyone, happy Monday!  I am at home today after working from noon on Sunday to 4am today.  I didn't completely finish my report but it was finished enough for review.  I will post a picture of the monster soon.  I got home at 5am then didn't sleep so I will be short on words.  This challenge is hosted by Paulina of Paulina's Passions.  She does amazing nail art and she's such a sweetheart!  Today was roses so I decided to do some simple stamping.

I started with three coats of light grey, Ulta Concrete Evidence.  I used Hard Candy Masquerade on my ring finger and stamped the roses with OPI Red Lights Ahead...Where?

Spring Heart Mani

Spring Heart Mani with my new Zoyas

Hi everyone!  I hope you all are having a great weekend, hopefully with some good weather.  I will be working again today but I'm excited because I get to see my mom today.  She's driving down to visit and it will be nice because I haven't seen her in a few months.  

For this look I wanted to play with some of my Zoyas that I got during the Earth Day promotion.  I started with two easy coats of Zoya Zuza, a shimmery dusty aquamarine color.  I did the hearts with Zoya Areej and the dots with Zoya Song (both using a bobby pin).  It wasn't exactly what I was going for but I think the hearts were pretty :)

Happy Thursday everyone!  Another quick post for me today.  I will pick back up next week...I promise :)  Today I started with two coats of Hard Candy Crush on Lava which is a fantastic shade I recently picked up.  I did a simple dotted french with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  If you can't tell, this is my only white polish haha.
