Tulip Mani

Flowers for Mom Nail Art Challenge: Tulips

Happy Monday everyone!  I can't believe we are already into week 3 of this challenge.  Time has flown by.  Yesterday it reached over 90 degrees and I feel like we've completely skipped Spring and got catapulted right into Summer.  Yesterday the hubby and I got our entire garden planted.  This year we chose to plant radishes, cantaloupe, zucchini, summer squash, tomatoes, hot peppers, banana peppers, and sugar snap peas.  We've already gotten quite a few asparagus and our apples, pears, and peaches are coming along nicely.  If you can't tell, we have a huge backyard!

Tulips are really one of my favorite flowers.  We already had our tulips for the year, bright red ones surrounding our house.  I plan on planting more in the fall.  Here is my take on tulips.  Again, these are done with a bobby pin so please excuse the lack of detail :)

For this mani I used a base of the shiny pink polish Hard Candy Little Bo Pink.  The darker tulips were made with OPI Purple with a Purpose and OPI Kiss Me on my Tulips (fitting right) :)  The lighter tulips were made with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and OPI My Vampire is Buff.  The stems and leaves were created with OPI Jade is the new Black.

Crazy Cloud Mani

Crazy Cloud Mani Plus Animal Print

Happy Sunday everyone!  I am thoroughly enjoying my first weekend that I actually don't have to work.  I really enjoyed Star Trek on Friday and the zoo was really fun yesterday, although I am a bit worn out from walking around for so long.  I plan on doing a really fun zoo post this week including the funky animal print nails I wore.

Today I have a unique combination although I don't know if I would call it pretty :)  I started out with a perfect grassy green creme, Zoya Josie.  I stamped a blurple tiny animal print with China Glaze Fancy Pants and then created a cloud mani with Zoya Hazel and Hard Candy So So Sequin.

Julep May Mani

Julep May Mani: Peach and Glitter!

Happy Saturday everyone!  I have a quick mani today that I created with my May Julep polishes.  This will be a quick post for me because I am off to the zoo with the hubby and friends.  Last night, spur of the moment, I saw Star Trek Into Darkness and I thought it was fantastic...even better than the first Star Trek movie.  I can blame my husband for bringing me into this nerdy world as I had no knowledge of Star Trek before I met him haha.

So onto the mani.  I started with a base coat of Julep Clara, a peachy creme polish that I really love.  I'm not one to go for a peach polish but there is something about this one that I really like.  I did glitter on this tips with Julep Paris, a holographic gold and silver glitter combo.  I thought this mani was very pretty and actually very girly for me.

Watermelon Nails

Watermelon Nails

Hi everyone!  YAY it's Friday :)  Just eight and a half hours and then I'm outta here and free for the weekend.  I'm excited for tonight because I will be doing a funky zoo-inspired mani for Saturday.

Today I have a really fun mani that I loved.  As soon as I saw Zoya Destiny it reminded me of juicy watermelon.  Watermelon, in my opinion, is the perfect summer fruit and I think behind strawberries, is one of my favorites.  I started with a base coat of Zoya Micky, stamped the watermelon pattern with OPI Jade is the New Black, and did accent fingers in Zoya Destiny.

Would you rock watermelon nails?  I would totally wear this again :)  I think it would be perfect wear for a BBQ.  Any fun plans this weekend?  Are there any manis or techniques you would like me to try soon?

Sunflower Nails

Flowers for Mom: Sunflowers!

Hi everyone...so close to Friday I can feel it :)  I am getting back into my normal life now and doing regular things again.  It feels really good.  I'm excited for my first free weekend in who knows how long.  I'm going to the zoo!  I sound like a little kid but there's always something so fun about it.  For today's nails the challenge was sunflowers.  This is my first floral nail art so keep that in mind :)  I don't have any brushes so I used my trusty bobby pin for everything.

My base color was OPI Solitaire because I was already wearing it, I just did a quick topcoat to smooth it out.  My flower colors include China Glaze Sunday Funday (yellow), China Glaze Desert Sun (tan), Essie Little Brown Dress (dark brown), Zoya Josie (green), and OPI You Don't Know Jacques (medium taupe).

I like the look of my sunflowers but my vines and buds didn't come out how I wanted.  I guess that's what I get for using a bobby pin haha!  This design wasn't my favorite but the ones coming up came out much better.

Zoya Cloud Mani

Zoya Cloud Mani: Summer 2013 Collections

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I finally (officially) finished my 600 page project!  I am at home today resting, it feels so good :)  Today I have a simple mani that really packed a punch.  I used the new Zoya summer 2013 collections to create a multi-layered cloud mani.

I started with a base of Zoya Amy, a metallic rusty orange color.  I layered it with Zoya Yana, Zoya Liberty, and Zoya Solange.  The mani was very easy to do, but it was bright and colorful and perfect for summer.

OPI Solitaire: Swatches and Review

OPI Solitaire

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Today is hair dying day.  I always have the urge to go dark but I am very pale so I'm not sure how well it suits me.  Well today I'm taking the plunge and going light.  I'm excited and nervous.  If it's horrible I won't post pictures :) lol

Today I have OPI Solitaire.  I showed some self control at Ulta the other day and only picked up one of these lovely textured polishes.  I am eying Vesper and Pussy Galore though.  That sounded bad....anyways, I will start off by saying that I loved this polish.  Admittedly I was disappointed with What Wizardry Is This?, the only textured OPI that I've tried.  This polish impressed me.  I used three thin coats of this polish and let them dry in between.  This polish is a frosty white with some shimmer and black flecks.  It dried well and has a really cool finish.  For a change...sunlight pictures.  It was a beautiful day here Saturday and I wore this polish to pick up my very first Helmer from Ikea :)  I guess I belong to the Helmer club now!
