Today's TT post was a fun one, inspired by food or drink. I had a hard time deciding what to do so I eventually took a peek at my "nail art inspiration" board that I made on Pinterest. That's where I found the picture below and thought it would be really fun to recreate. Sweets are my weakness and I saw all those pastel colors and knew that was the winning picture.
To create the base for this look I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow for the white frosting. For the inner vanilla cake, I made a ruffian and used two coats of OPI You're So Vain-illa. For the layers of frosting, I took some thin striping tape and taped off seven pieces on each nail. With a small nail art brush I dabbed on the frosting colors so that they wouldn't be completely uniform. Here's the frosting colors-
Pinky/red frosting-Julie G Romeo
Red/orange frosting-Maybelline Color Show Coral Heat
Orange frosting-China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin
Lemon frosting-Revlon Buttercup
Mint frosting-Essie Mint Candy Apple
Lavender frosting-Essie Go Ginza
To finish everything off and make it look more cake like, I took the same small nail art brush and dabbed OPI You're So Vain-illa around the ruffian edges and in between the cake layers. I finished off with one coat of topcoat.
I hope you guys enjoyed this look, I had a lot of fun creating it. It was the perfect nail art to take up some time on a lazy Sunday afternoon :) Don't forget to check out the other Twinsies below, I can't wait to see what food or drink they chose.

Aww...hope you feel better soon. I'm in the same boat. I have to go and see a neurologist, have blood work, and a MRI as well. Migraines suck! Anyway, your nails look great and perfectly show your cake inspiration!
ReplyDeleteErin that looks amazing! It's so wearable and delicate looking. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling all that great, I hope the MRI goes smoothly and you get some answers and some really good painkillers :)
ReplyDeleteToo cute!! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Hope those migraines ease up soon doll.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice inspiration! I really like how it turned out too.

ReplyDeleteFellow lacquer lover and migraine sufferer here. I hope you find a measure of relief soon as migraines are no joke. I like your mani, very sweet. Pun intended! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOH my goodness, I LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny on a post in which you say sweets are your weakness...I have the opposite advice! I suffered from really debilitating migraines for years but haven't had one (about three years now) since I began eating a ketogenic diet (basically very low carb, high fat). I know I sound like an infomercial or a shill, but it was totally game-changing for me. It's worth a shot! I hope they let up soon. :)
soooo great Erin! now i need cake!
ReplyDeleteMigraines are killers so I'm wishing you much relief there! But this mani is beyond words!
ReplyDeleteI hate migraines. Ugh they are the worst! Now I really want cake, your manicure is PERFECT! love it so much!
ReplyDeletemigraines are such a pain, sorry for the pun. I hope you are feeling better. this mani is so sweet! love all the colors!
