Fruit Week 2-Mango Skin Gradient

Hi there guys, happy Sunday.  Woo was yesterday's fruit mani a failure, sorry about that.  I was on the fence about it but I should have just pulled it.  Hopefully today's gradient is a little bit better.  Yesterday the hubby and I went to Soda Fest and spent three hours there.  I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but it really was a blast.  My husband ended up trying 50 different kinds of soda and I tried 43.  There were 250 different kinds but the most notable that we tried were a chocolate soda, sodas called Kitty Piddle, Dog Drool, Zombie Brains, and Swamp Juice, and a soda flavored like a Juicy Pear Jelly Belly.  Some were good, some not so good :)

Today I have another requested fruit, which was for Mangoes.  I don't personally like the taste of mango so I had to do some internet research on what they really look like.  I noticed that most of the skins had a gradient of orange, red, and green which I thought was pretty cool.  This is my second attempt, the first was a gross looking saran wrap mani haha!

To create this mani, I started with a base of OPI Where Did Suzi's Man-go?  I thought more orange would peek through but clearly it didn't turn out that way :)  For the gradient, I used a makeup sponge, Liquid Palisade to cut down on the cleanup, and OPI Where Did Suzi's Man-go?, Zoya Pepper, Zoya Tilda, and Zoya Hunter.

Hopefully this redeems me from my lemon fail as this is the final mani in Fruit Week 2014.  Tomorrow will start reviews of some new collections including part 2 of the Essie Summer collection, OPI neons, and the Summer Zoya Pixiedusts.  Have a great day everyone!

  1. This is a great design to end on! I can totally see the mango skin. (I don't like them either, haha!) And I don't think those lemons were a fail! Way better than I could do!

Some of those sodas sound....interesting! That's funny you're in Champaign Urbana, I could tell you were close regionally by your accent. :)

  2. You captured how the mangoes look like on the outside perfectly!

  3. I'm loving your fruity mani series, including the funny lemons from yesterday. :) This gradient is really cute! I love the colors you used... they are exactly the colors of a mango skin. :)

  4. I can't get over what a cute idea this fruit week was! Lovee this mango gradient.

  5. That soda festival sounds great! My husband and I love trying new flavors too :)

I LOVE this mani!! It's gorgeous, and totally looks like a mango!

  6. This is perfect! It totally looks like you have mango skin on your nails :D

  7. A little jamaican flag esque too, I love it!
