Today I have a really special polish to share with you and it has to do with the cause most near and dear to my heart, animals. October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and Alison from Aliquid Lacquer has created this beautiful polish to help this cause. Little did my parents know, one fateful October night in Southern California while walking a street fair, our little family of four would stumble upon the Humane Society booth and the cutest tabby kitten, just a tiny ball of fur. No I've never owned a dog, but I do know the importance and loving qualities of shelter animals. That little tabby cat named Bizzy, just a tiny kitten at the time came home with us, moved all over the county with us, and lived and was loved by us for 19 years.
Today because of Biz, my husband and I have three cats, two of which came from our local Humane Society. The third was rescued by a couple from a kill shelter but was horribly taken care of and had so many problems, she didn't come from a store or anything like that. Shelter animals have all sorts of stories, but they are lovable animals and deserve the best possible lives!
Here is Puppy Love, a limited edition polish available only for the month of October. Adopt a Shelter Dog Month seeks to call attention to the plight of these animals and to encourage people to adopt dogs rather than going to a breeder. Puppy Love is a bright teal with pink and gold flecks and holographic shimmer and boy is it a beauty! The best part, $5 from each bottle will be donated to the ASPCA. The vision of the ASPCA is "a humane community in which all animals are treated with respect and kindness." Donations to the ASPCA support a variety of causes, including:
- Grants to shelters nationwide
- Spay/neuter and microchipping programs
- Adoption, fostering and relocation programs
- Investigation and seizure of abused animals
- Lobbying for anti-cruelty legislation
As you can see, Puppy Love is a gorgeous polish and it was a breeze to work with. The formula was perfect and I needed two coats for full coverage. I ended up using three for swatches just to deepen the teal color on the nail. I did finish off with one coat of topcoat.
Also such a cute detail of note...that cute pup on the front of every bottle of polish is this little sweet heart..."You might know that the lovely lady on our polish labels is Trudy, our five-year-old rescue pit bull mix. Trudy is such an irreplaceable part of our lives that we can barely remember life before her!" -Alison
Although this is something I never do...if you are considering this polish, go buy it! It's gorgeous and it's for a wonderful cause! Animals and their well being are a cause that will always be near and dear to my heart! You can find this polish here.
