OPI Oz Collection Part 2: Glints of Glinda and Which is Witch?

Well it's Monday.  The only good thing is can say is that I hope the work week goes by quickly :)  Also our 30 plus year old windows in our house are getting replaced so my husband and I will no longer have to freeze in our own home.  It seems like spring will never come here, so many mixed signals, it snowed last week but the flowers in our front garden are starting to come up.  Very confusing!  Anyways...

Today I have part two of the OPI Oz collection.  I love every polish in this collection and these two are no exception.  The first is OPI Glints of Glinda.  This polish is a sheer tan peach and reached opacity in four thins coats.  They dried quickly for me so it wasn't a pain to build it up.  I am cool-toned so I wasn't sure if this polish would look good on me but I think it was neutral enough to work for me.  It might not be the best color for me but at least it didn't clash.  The following photos are four thin coats with no topcoat.  I liked the formula on this polish.  It applied smoothly without streaking or pulling.

I then layered Which is Witch? over Glints of Glinda.  I've shown this polish before; a few posts ago, but my photos have improved since then.  This polish is hex and tiny bar holographic glitter in a clear base.  I love this polish.  I couldn't stop staring at it.  Every time the light hits it it shines and you see a different flash of color.  Very nice!  The pictures are one quick coat with no topcoat.

OPI Oz Collection Part 1: Don't Burst My Bubble and When Monkeys Fly!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!  I hope everyone is having a good weekend.  My husband and I went to the movies to see Oz The Great and Powerful and we got there at 1 o'clock, went to get our tickets, and surprise, the theater in the nearby little town was full.  I guess we now have plans for next weekend :)  Today I have the first part of the OPI Oz Collection.  While I have already confessed my love for the Wizard of Oz, it's no surprise that I had to get the entire collection.  I know people were disappointed that there weren't bright "oz-like" colors in this collection but I really like what OPI came up with.  

First up is Don't Burst My Bubble.  This polish is a white pink sheer that had a really good formula.  Sometimes with sheers, during application, they can be really streaky and hard to work with but I didn't find that to be a problem at all.  These photos are three coats with no topcoat.  I really liked this shade and I see it as very bridal. 

Next up is When Monkeys Fly!...the controversial polish everyone is talking about.  I went back and forth on whether I was going to get this polish.  I ended up getting it and I don't regret it one bit.  This polish is one coat of the gold hex glitter with small silver glitters.  Was there curling?  Yes.  Was it horrible?  No.  The pictures make it look like the glitters are curled beyond belief, but that really isn't the case.  I got the majority of the gold glitter to lie flat just by putting the curled side down on the nail which wasn't that big of a pain at all.   I actually really like the look of this polish and am glad that I ended up buying it.

Happy Saturday everyone...my favorite day of the week!  Does anyone have any fun plans?  My husband and I are going to see the movie Oz the Great and Powerful at our local theater.  I've always had a thing for the Wizard of Oz, from the time I was little even to this day.  I remember my dad telling me that I used to make him watch the Wizard of Oz multiple times a day with me...every day.  The movie would finish and I would ask him to put it on again.  I'm pretty sure I still have my old VHS copy from back in the day.  With my love of Oz, I had to pick up all of the OPI Oz collection.  Today I have OPI Lights of Emerald City over OPI Eurso Euro.  I've worn this polish twice in the past week because I love it so much.  This polish is white square glitter (although mine are shaped like tiny Utahs) with iridescent pale pink/purple glitters in a clear base.  One thing I found really interesting about this polish-the small iridescent glitters seems to change color depending on what polish you wear under it.  For example, over a dark color like OPI Eurso Euro, the glitters look almost coppery and warm.  I've also worn this polish over Zoya Blu and they look pink and purple.  It's a really cool effect that increases the versatility of this polish in my opinion.  So far I've used four out of the seven OPI Oz collection polishes and this one is one of my favorites.  I've never seen a glitter polish like it and I applaud OPI for going outside the box on this one.

There's been much speculation on the possible demise of Google Friend Connect this July.  I've heard it both ways, it will stay, it will go.  So I decided to set up a Bloglovin' account which nicely and easily imported all the blogs I follow from GFC.  I have to say that I actually really like the set up.  Now if it only hadn't taken me the last hour to figure out how to get the widget on my page :(  Oh well, can't be upset when it's Friday :)

OPI Eurso Euro

Happy Friday!  Today I have a swatch of OPI Eurso Euro from the newly released OPI Euro Centrale Collection for Spring/Summer 2013.  I will start off by saying that I love this blue!   This polish is a royal blue creme.  The photos are two coats, no topcoat, in full sunlight.   It had a nice, smooth formula, no running, streaking, or pulling.  If you don't have a blue creme like this, I would highly recommend this.  I hope everyone has a good weekend!

St. Patrick's Day Dot Manicure

St. Patrick's Day means a green manicure, of course.  I love how easy this manicure was and how it turned out.  I started out with two easy coats of Essie Mojito Madness.  This is the first time I've tried this polish and I have to say that the color is a gorgeous light grassy green cream with a fantastic formula.  I then took my fancy dotting tool (a.k.a. a bobby pin) and made the larger dots with Essie Mint Candy Apple.  I created the smaller dots with the same bobby pin using less pressure.  For the smaller dots I used Essie Absolutely Shore.  Although hard to see, I went back over the big dots with the bobby pin to create a bit of contrast with OPI My Vampire Is Buff which is one of my all time favorite colors.  Overall I love the look of this quirky and fun manicure.  Also, notice the rare Midwest winter sun.  Love it!

Glitter French Mani

Glitter French Mani-using OPI Oz and OPI Euro Centrale Collections

A few days ago I used a few of my new polishes to create a glitter French manicure.  I started off with three coats of OPI Glints of Glinda from the new Oz collection.  This polish is a sheer peach beige and it was nice to apply.  It wasn't streaky and dried fairly quickly.  I then used two coats of OPI Which is Witch?.  This is an amazing glitter polish from the new OPI Oz collection.  It's a holographic glitter with tiny bar glitter and hex glitter.  I know some aren't a fan of bar glitter, but these are so tiny that all you see on the nail is shiny glitter.  This polish is amazing!  A day later, I did a freehand french tip in OPI I Saw...You Saw...We Saw...Warsaw which is a dark teal blue cream and then topped it with one more coat of OPI Which is Witch?.  I love the way this mani came out.  It's so girly and glittery that I'm on my fourth day of wearing it, but sadly it is getting a tiny bit worn and will be coming off tonight.  I hope everyone is having a great day...half way through the week...YAY!  These nails are a re-creation of a mani originally done by Pshiiit.
