Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Indie Brand

Hi everyone, welcome to Tuesday.  In case you missed it yesterday, I posted a surprise giveaway last night for two limited edition OPI shades from the Hello Flamingo collection.  This link will take you right to it!  I got home to a box full of OPIs yesterday and I was just too excited to wait.  I'll also have a video going up today with everything that arrived :)  Not much new is going on here besides it being extremely hot, humid, and stormy.  We've had a cluster of things break including our cable, the check engine light in my car is on, and our cat is going to the vet tomorrow for a urinary tract infection.  Whoever said being an adult was fun was not telling the entire truth.  Wouldn't it be fun to be a kid again?

As my husband pointed out last night, I couldn't buy all the polish I wanted as a kid so I guess he has a point there.  Today's prompt for Twinsie Tuesday was a tough one.  Picking a favorite Indie brand was really tough for me because there are so many cool Indies out there and so many that I have yet to try.  Ultimately I narrowed down my choices to two, Shimmer Polish and Candy Lacquer.  I almost cheated and picked two, but ultimately Shimmer Polish won out for the amount of polishes I had and also for the bling factor.  I also chalked it up to the huge amount of Shimmer Polish on my wish list Pinterest board, there are just so many good glitter combos!

For this mani, I really went for the glitter factor and wanted to do something that I've never done before, a taped glitter mani.  It wasn't the easiest thing to do and the glitter did peel up with the tape, but ultimately after some touch ups I really like the final look.  I also ended up using every Shimmer Polish in my collection :)

To get this look, I started with a very neutral base of Zoya Taylor and applied one coat of Seche Vite so my base didn't get peeled up with the tape.  I cut small strips of blue painter's tape and applied them randomly to the nails.  I then took my Shimmer Polishes and filled in the triangles left over by the tape.  Once the tape was removed, I used the bottle brushes to touch up and glitter that had been removed with the tape and ended with two coats of Seche Vite.

Here's what I used:
Shimmer Polish Erica-gold and green
Shimmer Polish Elsa-gold, red, and teal
Shimmer Polish Jennifer-baby pink and blue
Shimmer Polish Gerry-violet, purple, and navy
Shimmer Polish Jasmine-aquamarine, light blue, and green
Shimmer Polish Valerie-brown and gold

There you have it, my favorite Indie brand.  I would seriously buy one of every color if I could :D  What's your favorite Indie brand?  Leave me a comment down below!  Also, I would love to know what your favorite Shimmer Polish is!
