Zoya Swatch Spam Part 2

Zoya Earth Day Picks: Swatch Spam Part 2

Yay, it's Friday!  I feel like I've had a crazy last 24 hours so I'm glad the weekend is coming up.  I received a huge etsy order last night so I was scrambling to get that done, then our neighbor's transformer blew up knocking out the power and downing power lines, and to top it all off yesterday I found a doctor via a co-worker who actually diagnosed his food allergies so I scrambled yesterday to make an appointment with him with his office being three hours away.  Whew!  I need a breather today :)

I'm excited for the weekend.  I have an eye appointment after work today...yay, no more glasses.  One morning last week I woke up and one of my contacts (from my last pair) was missing from my contact case.  I'm sure it's a little shriveled artifact somewhere in the bathroom now.  Tonight is dinner with friends and then we've got a barbeque to go to Saturday night.  I also hoped to go see Iron Man 3 sometime.  Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

Onto the polishes!  Today I have the second half of the polishes I picked up from the Zoya Earth Day Promo.  I really love fall so I did pick up some fall shades.  First up is Zoya Noot, a deep grey green.  Formula was perfect, shown is two coats with no topcoat.  Look at how shiny it is!

Next is Zoya Zuza, an aqua shimmer.  Formula was perfect again, this is two coats with no topcoat.  I thought this one would be more vibrant than it was, it's still a pretty color though, just not what I expected.

Oh Zoya Jacqueline, I had such high hopes for you.  I really loved OPI My Vampire is Buff and I really wanted a second bottle as a backup.  To me, it seemed a little crazy to get a second bottle of the same polish so I justified getting a similar color by saying that it was a different brand and technically a different color ha!  I didn't like the formula on this one.  It was streaky and I needed three very careful coats to cover up the bald spots.  Not your typical Zoya formula!  The color is a pale nude with a hint of yellow but it lacked the opaqueness of OPI My Vampire is Buff.

My last pick was Zoya Areej.  I have been really wanting OPI Dim Sum Plum but couldn't find it anywhere.  I thought this color was a pretty close dupe when I looked at it online.  Boy is this color pretty.  The formula was very good, two coats of the typical Zoya formula and no topcoat.  This is a beautiful medium plum color and I really love it!

Nail Art Challenge: Abstract Flowers

Flower for Mom Nail Art Challenge: Abstract Flowers

Happy Thursday everyone!  I am glad that tomorrow is Friday.  Yesterday seemed to take forever so I'm hoping that today and tomorrow go by quickly so I can get to the weekend :)  We are finally wrapping up the Flowers for Mom Nail Art Challenge hosted by Paulina's Passions.  This was a really fun challenge but way more difficult than I expected.  I would have never thought that flowers would be so difficult but I found myself with quite a few duds throughout the challenge.  I am happy that I participated because I ended up discovering some really fun designs.  Today was one that I really enjoyed.

Today's theme was abstract flowers.  I wasn't quite sure what to do for this one, so I grabbed my new dotting tools from Born Pretty Store and went to work.  I started out with a base of Orly Glowstick.  I've been seeing pictures of this neon highlighter yellow polish and just had to have it :)  I used my dotting tools to create the larger pink dots in the background using OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender and OPI That's Berry Daring.  I did smaller dots on top of those with Essie Licorice and then did the centers with OPI A-taupe the Space Needle and Orly Glowstick.  I really liked that I came up with and they are definitely abstract!

Take a look at what these other ladies came up with here...

Zoya Swatch Spam!

Zoya Swatch Spam: Earth Day Promo Picks

Hi everyone and happy Wednesday!  I don't know about you, but I always get thrown off by three day weekends.  I think I am especially thrown off because I haven't been home for six days which seems like a really long time.  I'm back home now and my hubby surprised me with some nice gardening around the yard.  My cats were all over me when I got home so I guess they missed me :)  Now it's time to get back in a normal rhythm again!

Today I wanted to share Part 1 of two parts of my Zoya Earth Day Promotion picks.  I have three today and four in the second part.  Today also includes Zoya Kate which I won in a giveaway :)  I will just say that all of these polishes had a typical perfect Zoya formula, two coats with no topcoat.

First up is Zoya Bevin.  This color is a dusty, greyed-out blue green.  I really have wanted OPI Thanks a Windmillion and I thought this would be a close dupe for it.  I loved the color on this one.

Second is Zoya Song.  I spent a decent amount of time before the promo looking through different blogs to come up with the colors I wanted.  I picked this polish because I love a good blue or green and this one has something special about it.  It's a cobalt blue with a shimmery quality that makes it just glow.

Third is Zoya Kate.  This is the polish that I won in a giveaway.  I wasn't sure that I would like the color.  In the bottle it seemed to be a dusty rose type of color but I had to wear it to like it.  On the nail it turned out to have a little bit of a raspberry color which I really liked.

Last up is Zoya Suri.  I picked this polish to essentially be a purple cousin to Zoya Song.  I was not disappointed.  It has a really cool shimmery finish that also makes it shine and glow.  So pretty!

So what do you think?  :)  Did I choose wisely?  lol  I would love to know what other people got during this promotion!

Blue Chevron Mani

Blue Chevron Mani with Glitter!

Happy Tuesday everyone!  It's finally back to work for me although I am excited that this is a short work week :)  Hopefully that won't mean that next week is super slow!  Today I have a really pretty mani that I ended up really liking.  Blues are one of my favorite polish colors so I wanted to create an all blue mani.  As I've said a few times before, I'm not the girly girl type of person but I decided to add a glitter accent nail and I really ended up liking it!  It wasn't pink or anything but I think it really jazzed up this simple geometric mani.

I started off with two coats of one of my favorite bright cobalt blues, Essie Butler Please.  I used painter's tape to create the chevron triangles with Essie Avenue Maintain, a dusty medium blue.  My glitter accent nail was a combination of teal and purple glitter called Hard Candy Mermaid Magic.  I think this is one of my favorite manis that I've ever done!  What do you think?

Nail Art Challenge: Flowers and Insects

Flowers for Mom Nail Art Challenge: Flowers and Insects

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  I would just like to take a moment to thank all of the active service members and veterans that have served for our county.  I hope everyone is having a good day off.  The weather is bad here, rainy, stormy, and humid, so it's an inside day at my parent's house.  I did pull off a pretty good polish haul at Target so I will take pictures of those soon.

Today I have the second to last day of the Flowers for Mom Nail Art Challenge.  I decided to start with a pastel green base of OPI Gargantuan Green Grape.  I then stamped tiny leaves with OPI Jade is the new Black and painted created the butterflies with a bobby pin using various colors and Essie Licorice for the black accents.

Sunday Swatch Spam: OPI Color to Diner For

Sunday Swatch Spam: OPI Color to Diner For

Happy Sunday everyone!  I am so excited that it is a three day weekend this today.  Today I am going shopping with my mom and sister.  I'm not really the shopping kind of girl but hopefully we won't be gone all day :)  Today is a rare day in that these pictures were taken five minutes ago and I am actually wearing this polish.  I borrowed this one from my mom and I have to say that I really loved the color.  OPI Color to Diner For is a vampy shade of red with red shimmer.  Have you tried this color?  Would you wear it during spring?

Simple Flowers

A Simple Flower Mani:

Happy Saturday everyone!  I'm still at home with my family and it's been a whirlwind since I got here.  We didn't get home until after nine last night and we've been out all day today.  I had to take a nap because I was so tired :)  Today I have a simple flower mani that I did a few days ago.  I originally did this for the Flowers for Mom Nail Art Challenge but it was for "abstract flowers" and I came up with something more abstract than this.  I still really liked the look of this one and it was really simple to do.  I can't remember the polishes that I used but I can update this post later if anyone is interested.  I do know that the orange base coat is Zoya Thandie.

Poppy Nail Art

Flowers For Mom Nail Art Challenge: Poppies

Happy Thursday everyone!  Today is a fun day for me because I am going home for the first time in about four months.  I get to see my parents and sister which I am really excited about!  Today's theme was poppies.  I am very fond of poppies because of the movie The Wizard of Oz, which happens to be my favorite movie of all time.  Apparently when I was little I would have my dad put the VHS tape in and as soon as it was over, ask him to rewind it and play it again.  I've also lived in California where poppies grow wild along the sides of the road which I think is really cool.

I did these poppies before my dotting tools came so these are also made with a bobby pin (let me just say...good riddance bobby pin, the dotting tools are magnificent!).  I started with a base of OPI Chick Flick Cherry, a rich, deep red and created the poppies with Zoya Yana, OPI My Vampire is Buff, and Essie Licorice.

Born Pretty Store Review: Dotting Tools

Born Pretty Store Review: Dotting Tools and a Drip Mani

 *Press Sample*

Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!  A few weeks ago I was contacted by the Born Pretty Store for a review.  I've only heard good things about their website and was so excited!  I chose to review a really pretty set of dotting tools which are perfect to use for some awesome nail art.  I decided to create a drip mani which resembled an ice cream sundae with mint chocolate chip ice cream, a hot fudge drip, and cherries to top it all off.  I took lots of pictures because I loved this look!

Below is a good shot of my new dotting tools.  They are item #515 which can be found here.  There are five tools in total with ten different sizes.  Some of the sizes look similar to me, but I think that's a good thing, especially when using different colors of polish.  One end also is more pointy which I liked using for the white lines.

Here's two close-ups of the ten different dotting sizes.

Polishes used were Essie First Timer (green background), OPI You Don't Know Jacques! (chocolate sprinkles), Essie Little Brown Dress (hot fudge drips), OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (white), OPI Red Lights Ahead Where? (cherry red), and OPI Can You Tapas This? (maroon cherry accent).

The best part is that this awesome set is only $4.74 and free shipping.  I got my set in 11 days which was so fast :)  You can also receive 10% off with my coupon code below.

Hard Candy Swatch Spam: Part 1

Hard Candy: Swatch Spam Part 1

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday!  Today I have a quick post of some swatches.  I won a giveaway from Vampy Varnish that had sixteen Hard Candy polishes.  I was so excited and have been working on swatching them.  This will be part one of four parts.  Today will be a quick post because I was too tired last night to put anything together.

First up I have Jelly Bean Blue.  I loved this polish.  It had black and blue glitter in a pale blue cream base.  The photos are two coats with no top coat.

Second is Little Bo Pink.  I was a little skeptical of this pink because I also received a brighter pink.  Boy was I wrong!  This pink was very shiny and ended up looking really pretty.  Below is two coats without a top coat.

Lastly is Crush on Ivy.  This one was a metallic green shimmer that is a dupe for Zoya Rikki.  It is very pretty though!
